Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) trinkae, a putative vector of human malaria parasites in Junin Department, eastern Peru, is synonymized with An. (Nys.) dunhami, which is concomitantly removed from synonymy with An. (Nys.) nuneztovari, a well established vector of human malaria parasites in Venezuela and Colombia. The incorrectly designated male holotype of An. dunhami is validated as the lectotype, and the male genitalia are redescribed, illustrated, and contrasted with those of An. nuneztovari.
