Among several types of species of Culicidae stored in the entomological collection of the Taxonomy Laboratory in the "Centro de Pesquisas Rene Rachou-Fundacao Oswaldo Cruz", there is a NEOTYPE female (34527-2) with skins of the larva (3434) and pupa (6335) mounted on slides. The male ALLOTYPE (34527-3) with a male genitalia (6416), skins of larva and pupa (6414) are mounted on slides. These were collected by L. Gomes on April 24, 1944 at the type locality, "Serra da Cantareira", Sao Paulo, Brazil and determined by N. L. Cerqueira and J. Lane as Haemagogus capricornii (Lutz, 1904).
