The male, larva and pupa of Heizmannia (Mattinglyia) discrepans (Edwards) described here for the first time, show that this species is close to Hz. (Mat.) catesi. The larva has a conspicuous long maxillary "horn" which is a unique feature among the Culicine larvae of the Indian subcontinent.
