The adult male and female of Aedes (Stegomyia) calceatus Edwards are redescribed and illustrated form Edwards' holotype and the existing paratypes in the British Museum (Natural History) and the United States National Museum. A new species, Aedes (Stegomyia) ledgeri, is described and illustrated. Diagnostic characters for separating ledgeri from closely allied species are given. The distributions (based on examined specimens) of ledgeri and calceatus are presented.
