Thirty-three species of mosquitoes are now recorded from the Maritime Provinces of Canada. These include 22 species of Aedes, 3 of Anopheles, 4 of Culex, 2 of Culiseta, and one species each of Coquillettidia and Wyeomyia. With the exception of Ae. triseriatus (Say), all have been previously recorded from maritime Canada. The known biology of these mosquitoes is summarized including information on overwintering stages, hatching, larval and pupal habitats, adult emergence and feeding of adults.
