In 1973, 1974, and 1975 the Clarke Outdoor Spraying Company mass transported Gambusia affinis (Baird and Girard) from Alabama and Louisiana to permanent water mosquito breeding areas in Northeastern Illinois. The logistics of the operation included initial survey and planning, collecting, packaging, shipping and stocking. Economic, overwintering, and ecological factors were considered. The goal was minimize mortality and expense.
