A colony of Anopheles farauti, originally from the istand of New Britain in Papua New Guinea,was tested for its receptivity to infection with different species of Plasmodium in comparison with An. freeborni and An. stephensi. This colony adapted well to feeding on monkeys and was infected with New World and old World strains of P. vivax and P. falciparum, P. ovale, P. cynomoigi, and P. brasilianum.
