"Cylindrocharis Casey, a subgenus of Pterostichus Bonelli, includes three species: P.(C.) rostratus (Newman), ranging from southeastern Canada to the southern Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina; P.(C.) acutipes, new species, from central Kentucky and Tennessee to the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, and northeast Georgia; and P. hypogeus, new species, from the Nantahala and Snowbird mountains, North Carolina. The central Kentucky populations of acutipes are described as a distinct subspecies, P.(C.)a. kentuckensis"--P. 13.
