The black and white photographs document field work completed during the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program, 1962. Captions on the reverse side list number, photo, date, location, legend. Photographs are by David B. Marshall. Subject matter covers individual and groups of birds in habitat at various ages (including sooty terns, laysan albatross), campsites, rock outcroppings, military equipment (helicopter on ship), aerial view of islands with descriptions of changes to environment due to military development, former Coast Guard Station on East Island. Descriptions of birds can be detailed. Locations include East, Laysan, and Tern Island, acrossHawaii Island National Wildlife Refuge which is now partof Papah naumoku kea Marine National Monument.
