In this photograph, Roosevelt is standing close to the elephant. A very similar picture, in which he is leaning against the elephant, appears in African game trails, facing page 256. The published photo is captioned "The first bull elephant" and is credited to R.J. Cuninghame, Roosevelt's professional hunter
