Notes
Alexander Wetmore went to Panama in 1954 to visit the Canal Zone Biological Area and collect bird specimens in Chiriqui. Report indicates most of his work focused on the 4000 -6000 foot elevations in the subtropical zone. He was assisted by Beatrice Thielen Wetmore. The Netherlands Antilles and Venezuela were also visited. Materials include correspondence, news clippings, reference materials, permits, itinerary, film notes, travel notes, list of supplies, itemized expense records, field report, and memorabilia. Correspondence discusses ongoing Smithsonian business, permits (some in Spanish), travel plans and changes, photographs taken, supplies already in Panama (vehicle), and bird specimens collected. Also include list of specimens from which he collected blood smears. Correspondents include John Enos Graf, Watson M. Perrygo, James Zetek, and Adela Gomez.
