These black and white photographs pertain to Stejneger's extensive study of the fur seals of the North Pacific-Bering Sea. Depicted in these photographs are rookeries, a fishery, monuments, and geographic features. Locations depicted include North Rookery on Bering Island (Ostrov Beringa) and Copper Island (officially Ostrov Mednyy), Kalakhtyrka river and Petropaulisky in Kamchatka. Some photographs are dated 1897; other photographs are undated. Some or all of these photographs may be published.
