Correspondence from J.W. Robbins to John Torrey, dated 1828-1830. In his first letter, a young Robbins expresses a desire to be considered for the position of botanist for a rumored expedition to the South Seas. In the second, having settled in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, he expresses the hope that he will be able to devote more time to botany.
