Notes
Correspondence from Edward Frederick Leitner to John Torrey, dated September 12, 1832. Leitner writes to Torrey-- "although I have not the pleasure of your acquaintance"-- to request his support for an expedition Leitner proposes to make to "East Florida" and the Tortugas to collect botanical and, to a lesser extent, zoological specimens. He outlines the subscription scheme he has contrived to support the expedition, describes his proposed route, and offers a number of prominent naturalists as references.
