Notes
The field book is part of a collection of Waldo L. Schmitt papers. Schmitt was a carcinologist. During the summers of 1924 and 1925, Schmitt was at the Carnegie Institution's Marine Laboratory at Tortugas, Florida, surveying the crustacean fauna of the area, identifying crustaceans found in the stomachs of fishes, and taking underwater photographs. This folder contains the unbound pages 119 to 148 of a notebook, covered in handwritten notes and marginalia related to research conducted at the Dry Tortugas in 1925. The notes are dated from May 30 to June 27, 1925. They include drawings of specimens. The first page has the date "1925", followed by a list of 11 scientists: "Pr. William H. Longley, Dr. David Hill Tennant, J. M. Valentine, Wm. Randolph Taylor, Paul Conger, Wm. N. Miller, Dr. Caswell Grave, Dr. Albert Mann, Dr. H. Boschma, Dr. H. V. Wilson", and "Bartsch, last two weeks". A few notes are inserted.
