The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in Louisiana, January 4 - February 14, 1926. The entries are dated and describe travel from Washington, DC (mode of travel, destinations, times of day, campsites); weather; vegetation (including types listed with binomial and state of growth); terrain (beaches, marshes); interactions with colleagues and local inhabitants; specimen collecting (including rodents with quantities, stomach contents): observations fauna including behaviors, diet, and habitat; and contents of owl pellets.
