Notes
This field book contains notes on bird and mammals observed in various Florida, Louisiana and Texas locations. Some frequently observed birds include geese, mallards, heron, egrets, gulls, loons, and ducks. Nelson's notes on mammals focus on muskrats, but include others. Notes also include historical statistics on birds and anecdotal information on animal populations in the last couple years. Locations include but are not limited to Breton Island (Louisiana), Rainy Refuge (possibly Florida), Orange (Texas), Cameron (Texas), and Bird Island (Florida). Memo dated 26 February 1927 with determinations of bats found at Bird Key are included. Notes on drought fires killing rats in Texas and Louisiana included. Colleague Bob Gordon and his notes on muskrats are referred to.
