The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in Mexico and Texas, October 18 - November 24, 1932. Entries are dated and describe work with Frederic Winthrop Jr., in Chihuahua and Sonora. Subject matter includes supplies for work in Mexico, travel details (destinations, time of day, mode of travel, campsites), vegetation and state of growth, weather, terrain seen enroute, observations of communities visited, local inhabitants met, observed flora and fauna (plants, birds and mammals observed and life zones), ranches visited, terrain with altitude, trapping methods, and specimens collected.
