Notes

Alexander Wetmore records details about specimen collecting and observations of birds in the vicinity of Independence, Kansas (March 25 - May 22) and Minco Indian territory in Oklahoma (May 23 - May 31). This occurred during his work as an Assistant at the University of Kansas Museum. Describes specimen numbers 888-1198 and egg numbers 70-83. Entries are chronological and listed by date. They consist of journal style descriptions of outings to collect and observe with details about weather, environment and bird appearance and behavior, as well as lists of specimens collected per day. Specimen details include: number, name (scientific or common),collector name, location, appearance, size (with measurements), and stomach contents. Along the left-hand side of entries, Wetmore records specimen numbers and bird's names for quick reference. Wetmore noted being accompanied by Carl Long, Lester Disney, and Marvin Woodworth while collecting. Woodworth collected with him in Oklahoma and is note as a source of specimens. Collecting sites include the vicinity of the Verdigris River [North Branch Verdigris River] and Elk River in Kansas, as well Boggy Creek and Canadian River [North Canadian] in Oklahoma.
