Notes

Issued in 25 parts between September 15, 1910 and March 14, 1914. The issuing date for each part appears on the accompanying printed wrappers

Paged continuously

Includes 132 chromolithographed plates, 15 monochrome plates, and 68 full page illustrations

The publication was issued with a separate sheet containing "Instructions to the binder," recommending the order of the sections and their accompanying plates to be split between two volumes once all the parts had been received. However, purchasers were also free to devise their own preferred custom binding sequence for the text and plates, which accounts for the variations found in various holding libraries' descriptions

Some of the Latin and English descriptions were written by John Gilbert Baker of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew

Willmott was noted for cultivating a large variety of roses in her garden at Warley Place, near Brentwood, Essex, England
