Notes

Refr: G&M 315; Norman 1091; Eimas 1150 Cont: Volumes 2, 4 and 6 are made up entirely of plates and explanatory notes Titl: Volumes 5 & 6 are titled 'Supplement to the foregoing Lectures on comparative anatomy' Cont: With a portrait of the author Note: Everard Home was a brother-in-law of the Hunters, and freely acknowledged his debt to them in his writings. After John Hunter&rsquo;s death, Home inherited his manuscripts which included Hunter&rsquo;s own description of his anatomical collection. Thirty years later Home burned the manuscripts and started a controversy which remains to this day. Home claimed that Hunter requested him to destroy the papers, but some historians suggest he simply plagiarised them to further his own reputation. Whatever the truth the above work has been described as "a fine piece of scholarship and printing" (Eimas)&nbsp;<br /> Dplt: Duplicate copies of vols. 1,2,4,5 and 6 in Basement 11.
