"In the saddles between the peaks of the partially submerged Aleutian mountain chain, and perhaps on other portions of the slopes of these peaks, is found a mite fauna strikingly different from the benthic fauna of the Bering Sea and even markedly different from the intertidal fauna of the islands themselves."

Specimens classified as Agaue longiseta, Thalassarachna aleutica and T. agauiformis collected from the Aleutian Islands; specimens classified as T. schefferi collected from Saint Paul Island, Pribilof Islands.
