"Remains of a new genus and species of fossil, ornithorhynchid monotreme are described. The specimens were recovered from Miocene deposits in South Australia and are part of the Ngapakaldi and equivalent aged faunas in this region. The fossil genus represents the oldest record of the group in Australia and begins to fill a large gap in our understanding of the evolution of the Monotremata"--P. [1].
