"A new species of Synbranchus from the Amazon Basin is described and compared with sympatric and allopatric populations of Synbranchus marmoratus and with the caverniculous synbranchid, Furmastix infernalis, from YucataМЃn. The new species and marmoratus are found to differ in metameric, morphometric, pigmentary, and osteological features.
