Notes

Bitterroot milkvetch (Astragalus scaphoides) is a member of the legume family (Fabaceae) found only in east-central Lemhi County, Idaho, and adjacent Beaverhead County, Montana. Bitterroot milkvetch has recently been listed as a candidate for threatened or endangered status (Category 2) by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This species also is listed as recommended for the Federal Watch List in Idaho. In a 1984 study conducted by Lesica, bitterroot milkvetch was found to be rare within its restricted range in Idaho and possibly threatened by reduced reproductive output resulting from predation.
