Notes
Correspondence from Charles Pickering to John Torrey, dated 1833-1836, first discussing Torrey's 1833 trip to Europe, and subsequently a wide swath of their mutual acquaintances and plant specimens. Pickering has a habit of dropping partial names without context, like "LeConte's brother," "Cooper," Dr. Jay," "Mr. Rich," and "Dr. Green." Obsolete and unresolved plant names mentioned include Aurantiaceae, Avena striata, Dalibarda lobata, Diplasia, Scolopendrium, and Trisetum palustre.
