Correspondence from Samuel Bowne Parsons to John Torrey, dated 1853-1858. In his first letter, Parsons describes his unsuccessful attempt to propagate Torreya californica, which it seems Torrey was hoping acquire. Parsons assures Torrey he will make another attempt the following year. In Parsons' second letter he tries to arrange a visit with Torrey for the following week: "I think if we can make a party we shall have a good time..."
