Notes

Correspondence from A. Kellogg to John Torrey, dated 1856, discussing several members of the Cucurbitaceae native to California. Kellogg makes reference to his own drawings of plants (Torrey seems to have requested copies of some of them) and the difficulty of obtaining botanical reference texts in California. He also mentions a Dr. Andrews who collected plants in California at the time, and who seems to have supplied Torrey with specimens as well. Obsolete and unresolved plant names mentioned include Megarrhiza marah and Sicyos oreganus.
