Notes

John Brooks Henderson, Jr., a diplomatic advisor to China, was a shell collector. Interested in the marine shell life of the West Indies, he participated in several expeditions to the Caribbean. He also traveled to collect marine mollusks along the Southeastern United States. His collections were donated to the United States National Museum. He did volunteer work in the Division of Mollusks in his spare time, and wrote several articles for the Proceedings of the United States National Museum and Bulletin of the United States National Museum.This field book includes station records for a dredging expedition on the Eolis to the Barbados and Antigua, under the auspices of Iowa State University. The stations are numbered, to 101 for the Barbados and from 102 to 511 for Antigua. Their names and depths are noted. Dates range from May 12 to June 21, 1918.In the book is inserted a black-and-white photograph, at the back of which is inscribed "Old Swizzle Hall, Pel. Id., 986."
