The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in Pennsylvania, March 12 - 14, 1929. Entries are dated and describe travel from Washington, DC. Subject matter includes travel details (accommodations, times of day), weather, specimens collected (type, measurements, weight, stomach contents, health, presence of lice), vegetation eaten, and observations of live deer. Most of the notebook is blank. Bailey was also studying conditions of dying deer around refuge near Clearfield county, Crystal Springs, Pennsylvania.
