Mearns often includes altitudes, localities, quantity, and a description of what the specimen was doing when observed. Localities include but are not limited to Gardiner River, Sepulcher Mountain, Gardiner Canyon, Mammoth Hot Springs, Upper and Lower Geyser Basin, and Elk Park.
