Notes
This field book documents Nelson's field research in Mexico between 8 October 1892 and 20 April 1893. At the end of Nelson's notes for 22 February 1893 are instructions to "stop here" and go on to the next book. A second set of notes entitled "Chalchicomula--Mt. Origaba". Nelson describes the flora and fauna of locations he visits, focusing on birds and small mammals. Taxonomic names and some common names are included. Some annotations (particularly for taxonomic names and locations names) by unknown person are also included. Locations include Michoacán, Nahuatzén, Pátzcuaro, Ajusco, and other locations. Much of the notes (perhaps half) also describe the social customs, political and civic structure, clothing, and architecture, and agriculture of the places Nelson visits.
