Field notes Vol. 603 documents Arthur Cronquist's botanical collecting in South Africa, Malaysia, New Caledonia, and Australia in 1978 on a New York Botanical Garden expedition, with co-collectors including Bernard de Winter, Benjamin C. Stowe, Bruno Mannheim, H.E. Moore, J.M. Veillon, Bernard Hyland, Alick Dockrill, Bruce Gray, Alexander Floyd, James Armstrong, and Robert Coveny. It consists of a list of specimen numbers 11587-11640, collected September 6-October 23, 1978. The list contains collection locations and dates, descriptions of plant and habitat, and many have determination (added later). The notebook also contains some additional miscellaneous notes. There is also one specimen number, 11641, collected in Virginia in 1980, which is also listed in Field notes Vol. 602.
