Notes

Field book of banding forms for field notes that are survey records on migratory birds specimens collected in Egypt for the Palearctic Migratory Bird Survey. From the finding aid (SIA RU000435): "The Palearctic Migratory Bird Survey (PMS), a survey of migratory birds, their ectoparasites and the viruses they carry, was conducted in the eastern Mediterranean from 1966 to 1971. The primary PMS operation site was in northern Egypt. Surveys were also conducted in Cyprus and Israel. The PMS involved scientists of the Smithsonian Institution, the United States Naval Medical Research Unit, and Yale University, and was funded by the Army Research Office, the Smithsonian Foreign Currency Program, and the Smithsonian Research Foundation. George E. Watson, Chairman, Department of Vertebrate Zoology, and Curator, Division of Birds, National Museum of Natural History, was Principal Investigator". Surveys were also conducted in Uganda. The forms are dated from April 14 to August 23, 1969 and numbered 030-01830 to 030-02028. A photocopy of folder cover was inserted before the first form; it is marked with the forms numbers range and with the note "June 74, checked against printout. Recaptures entered." A card attached to the first form shows the numbers "030-01830-03501". Two cards were inserted in the folder: the one before 030-01993 is marked "Fall" and the one before 030-02001 is marked "on tape". The banding forms show the form number, the name of the bird species, the date and locality of capture and release, and data on sex (as determined from plumage, soft parts or otherwise), age (as determined from plumage, soft parts, skull or otherwise), weight, fat, molt, with additional remarks.
