Notes
The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in June 16 - October 23, 1923. He was the chief field naturalist for the United States Department of Agriculture. The entries are dated and describe travel details from Washington, DC, (destinations, accommodations, mode of transportation), ideas and methods for keeping beavers in captivity for fur trade, colleagues with whom he met, terrain, vegetation, wildlife observed (including beavers), locals looking into beaver farming, and specimen collecting. Often locations are identified by landowner. Includes a sketch of a beaver trap. A portion of the notebook is blank. Also includes loose notes with lists of supplies and hand copied quote.
