Most copies lack the text portion, which includes an introduction to the work and a description of the Lepidoptera depicted on plates 1-4, both in English and in French.

The prospectus for Psyche appears as an advertisement printed on p. [2] of the original paper wrappers issued with the individual parts.

The plates are chiefly proofs before letters. The first four plates are numbered 1-4, with internal figures 1-10 (1, 5 not marked); the next two plates are unnumbered but with internal figures 17, 18, 19 and l4, l5, [16] (or 13?); all other plates are without letterpress. All plates are interleaved with blanks.

The wrappers (and text?) were printed by Cooper and Graham.
