Alexander Wetmore traveled to Colombia in 1941 to collect bird specimens for the US National Museum. The photograph album documents his travels in Colombia, Curacao [Netherlands Antilles], Venezuela, and Bermuda, 1941. Photographs sometimes include numbers, date, and caption with description and location. Subject matter includes colleagues, visited sites in Bogota; terrain (savanna, mountains, shorelines); modes of transportation; lodgings; examples of clear-cutting of forests in Colombia; process of building a house in Colombia; villages and local people at daily activities; candid images of Guajira Indians documenting their daily lives; a Capuchin school of Colombia; and farms, towns, and ports. Sites include the vicinity of Nazaret, La Guajira Peninsula, and Bogotá in Colombia. Includes photographs of Wetmore, Armando Dugand, F. Carlos Lehmann V., Hermano Apolinar Maria, Jose Cuatrecasas, Melbourne Armstrong Carriker, Jr., and Raymond E. Crist.
