The album documents Alexander Wetmore's work in Guatemala and Honduras, 1936; Venezuela, 1937; Veracruz, 1939. Alexander Wetmore traveled to Guatemala to conduct ornithological investigations and collect specimens for the US National Museum. Subject matter includes scenes of the town and candid images of people in the community; his assistants; slopes of volcanoes in Guatemala; colleagues; preparation and packing supplies for collecting specimens; zoological garden in Venezuela; farms and their structures; images of savannas, rivers, and shorelines; example of locals constructing a new house in Veracruz; candid scenes of people, activities,and specimens of the archaeological dig of Clarence Weiant and M.W. Stirling in Tres Zapotes, Veracruz. Includes photographs of Wetmore, Henri Pittier, Ventura Barnes, Jr., William Wilson Popenoe, Matthew Williams Stirling, Marion Illg Stirling, and Clarence Weiant.
