Issued in 19 pts.; reissued with varying numbers of plates over 13 years, individual copies vary. There was no text printed along with the plates. "About 1819 Selby issued a separate quarto volume of letterpress describing the land birds, but very few copies were printed ... by issuing the text separately, Selby avoided having to deposit copies of the expensive plates at the Stationer's Office."" -- See Christine E.
