Notes

Alexander Wetmore records observations of birds in and around his home town, North Freedom, Wisconsin, during October 1903 to January 1904. He describes appearances and behaviors of birds as seen and specimens collected during his regular outings to the fields and woods of the area. He tells of purchasing a domesticated burrowing owl [named Tommy], which he keeps in family barn, and its subsequent behavior (eating habits, attacking family member's feet, interactions with him). He also mentions individuals by first and sometimes last name that accompany him on outings.
