This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, on the Southern Island Cruise 19 and Northern Grid Survey 38, aboard the USS Granville S. Hall, 1968. Materials include: bird observation data sheets, fix data sheets, and ship weather observation sheets. Bird observation sheets include time, species, #, dir., specimen or band no., and remarks. Remarks include physical descriptions of birds (colors, size, maturity), flock size, and behavior (sitting on water, height off of water, etc.). Fix data sheets include: ship, date, sunrise (time, lat., long.), sunset (time, lat., long.), total miles traveled, position (time, lat., long), and course or speed change. Ship weather observation sheets include USS name, date, date, time, winds, visibility, weather, barometer, clouds, sea water temp., sea waves, and swell waves. Localities include points at sea between Eniwetok Atoll [Enewetak] and Pearl Harbor (HI), and other locations. Also included is a photocopied typed preliminary report.
